POSTDOCS AND VISITING SCHOLARS
Post-doctoral researchers are encouraged to apply for external fellowships prior to joining the lab.  Please contact me if you are interested in collaborating.

GRADUATE STUDENTS
Due to funding constraints, our lab is unlikely to consider new graduate students for the 2025-26 admissions cycle.

UNDERGRADUATES
If you are interested in learning about volunteer opportunities in our lab, please fill out our Parker Lab Opportunities Form. If you would like Ingrid to write you a letter of recommendation, please review the Recommendation Letters page first.

OUR LAB
Graduate students in our lab study a range of different topics (see People), but all are united by a broad interest in plant ecology and evolution and a desire to make the world a better place.  Each person has a unique way of making that contribution. My students are all terrifically bright, fun people who make the lab a warm and exciting place to be.

I have very high expectations of my students, both in terms of scientific standards and in terms of our personal interactions. I care about my students more than anything else about my job. I also expect them to be good lab citizens and good departmental citizens (see our Statement of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community).

We have a great group in plant ecology, evolution, and conservation biology here at UC Santa Cruz, and I encourage you to contact other potential advisors in EEB as well as in Environmental Studies. I do frequently co-advise students.

Students in my lab are funded from a combination of fellowships, research assistantships, and teaching assistantships. Our department generally provides 5+ years of funding for PhD students and often provides summer funding and research/travel support as well.  Applicants for the PhD program have access to more funding opportunities than Masters applicants. I encourage all potential PhD students to apply for the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship
